Using Simple Decor to Add Fall Touches to Your Home

It’s finally that time, as days get shorter to cozy your home with simple touches for Fall. I like to use pieces that I already own in new ways during holidays so create simple warm & cozy displays that bring the fall season indoors.
Using 10 types of objects, I created one mantle 3 simple ways to give so design ideas and also used similar objects for a fall buffet display.

Here’s a list of the 10 things I collected before I started decorating:
- Books ( I almost always use books in my displays to add both horizontal and vertical elements and to make other elements taller)
- Candlesticks
- Small pumpkins
- Antlers
- Stems or Leafs (Faux, bought, or found – mine were from a Magnolia Tree in my yard)
- Containers
- Framed Pictures
- Candleholders, jar candles
- Glass bottles (I used Amber for fall but use a lot of clear ones too)
- Wooden stands
Most of these items I have collected over the years from antique and thrift stores, were handled down to me, or were found objects.

For our fall buffet display, I cleared everything off and found larger books to complement the scale of the piece. I collected 3 Amber glass bottles in a wire basket to keep it airy and simple and used a Magnolia stem from my yard in one of them for height. I finished it off with 2 simple white pumpkins I picked up at Kroger for $1.25 each. This display set me back $2.50, proving that changing up what you have for seasonal decorating can be affordable.

I’ve had these metal candlesticks forever (not silver so they don’t require polishing).

Here I used my son’s silhouette from when he was young and the green container on the right was my grandmother’s.

I found this framed picture at an antique store and picked it up inexpensively to use in displays.
